3 Strand Twisted Rope

A three-strand rope, also known as a twisted rope, is generally the most universal rope produced and used in various applications, such as mooring, towing, and anchoring. It is made by twisting together three strands to create a stronger and more durable rope.

The three-strand rope is a traditional rope design that has been used for centuries, and it remains a popular choice today due to its versatility, durability, and ease of use. The twisting of the three strands creates a rope that is much stronger than a single strand of the same diameter.

Another advantage of a three-strand rope is its ability to absorb shock. When a load is placed on the rope, the twisting of the strands allows for a more gradual transfer of energy, reducing the risk of the rope breaking. This makes the three-strand rope an excellent choice for applications that require a rope that can withstand sudden stress or shock, such as mooring or towing.

Popular 3-Strand rope materials are Manila, Nylon, Polyester, Polydac, and Polypropylene. The choice of material depends on the intended use of the rope and the specific requirements of the application.

We supply cordage from Cortland, Phillystran, Sunshine Cordage, and Erin Rope. All cordage has received ABS and DNV-type approvals.
