It's been a number of years since we last hosted a Crosby event at one of our branches. The Crosby Rigging Seminar and Demo Day hosted at our Kentuckiana Wire Rope and Supply location on Thursday, September 7th was a great success with over 150 in attendance not including industry experts from The Crosby Group, Harrington Hoists, Peerless Industrial Group, and Fulcrum Lifting.

The day started with a packed room for the Rigging Seminar led by Jim (Wojo) Wojcikiewicz, District Sales Manager from The Crosby Group. Topics reviewed included risk management, planning the lift, loads on rigging, the rigging triangle, application of hardware, inspection of hardware, application of slings, and inspection of slings. To say the morning was filled with valuable information would be an understatement. Wojo's years of experience and knowledge within the industry really shined in the packed banquet room.

After the morning seminar wrapped up, attendees made their way over to the Kentuckiana branch where copious amounts of BBQ awaited.

Aiming to avoid a "hangry" afternoon, there were 75 lbs combined of smoked brisket, pork, and turkey accompanied with 16 trays of sides waiting along with cold drinks.

Planning for the event was no small task. In the words of Todd Stites, Branch Manager of the Kentuckiana Wire Rope and Supply branch, "We all felt that it was a challenge and an opportunity that we were excited to take on. Kentuckiana Wire Rope has an impressive new showroom, as well as an organized and professionally maintained facility. We have great employees who take a lot of pride in their work, and the Crosby event was an awesome way to show things off. Our goal was to make a positive and lasting impact on our customers and The Crosby Group. I’m happy to report that we achieved our goals."

With appetites suppressed, attendees split up into groups to make their way around the six demo stations with detours through the newly renovated Kentuckiana showroom.

The live, hands-on demos featured the Crosby Rig Safe, Rig Smart Truck, Crosby BlokCam and Straightpoint, Speedbinders, wire rope fabrication, high-performance synthetic rope (HMPE) fabrication, and hydraulic tools.

The Speedbinders Demo Station was led by Chris Whitehead, Vice President of Sales - North America and Tim Ehlers, Regional Vice President of Sales - Northwest at The Crosby Group. The both agreed, "it's one thing to see it operate but the game changer was actually putting their hands on it and operating it themselves. It truly gave it the wow factor on ease of use."

Overall the day was a great success in both attendance and execution. We’ve received nothing but positive responses from customers, employees, and Crosby representatives.

Tim Ehlers, Regional Vice President of Sales - Northwest at The Crosby Group, stated "Over 180 key people representing many industrial and construction industry customers in the region. Well organized, great training, great food, great chance to see new technology in our industry."

Our very own Todd Stites added "If there were any negatives, I couldn’t see them, and nobody shared them. The turnout, training, demo stations, food, fellowship, weather, and overall vibe were all great! Very seldom does everything come together in a large event without a hiccup, but I’m glad to say that this one did. It was the ultimate display of Fulcrum teamwork to have made this an absolute success."
