We are committed to being resources to our industry and our customers. That's why we participate in industry associations and groups. When we had the opportunity to host a meeting with The Propeller Club of Evansville at the Vernon Lifting Products facility, we jumped on board immediately. We knew this would be a great opportunity to help educate the other members on the benefits, strength, and versatility of High Modulus Polyethylene (HMPE) rope on the water.

Since 1927, The U.S. Propeller Club has supported and promoted the U.S. Merchant Marine and Maritime Industry.  Today, The Propeller Club is the largest grass roots maritime association in the U.S. with 52 club ports as well as 33 overseas.  Additionally, there are over 20 Student Club Ports in the U.S. and overseas. www.propellerclubofevansville.org

To start the evening, there was a meet and greet which transitioned into a tour of the facility. Attendees were taken through the different areas from the showroom, to synthetic fabrication, wire rope fabrication, and more. The tour also included an HMPE splicing demo and concluded with a break test in the hydraulic test bed.

After the tour concluded, guests were treated to a Shrimp Boil with all the traditional ingredients prepared by our team and Sales Manager, Dan Owsley.

To ensure the best learning experience, we recruited Easton Schlender Technical Sales Manager, Industrial Distribution from Cortland to help with the presentation and education of the group. Easton covered the best practices for using HMPE on the waterways. This included topics like installing the line, working the line, and maintaining the line.

The presentation was well received and feedback from the event was great, Owsley shared, "The Propeller Club Shrimp Boil was a hit! We got a lot of compliments from the attendees. They really liked the presentation from Cortland, the Vernon shop tour, fabrication, and break test demo."
