Self Retracting Lifelines
A SRL or Self Retracting Lifeline, is a device that is a spring-loaded retracting cable or web lanyard that is wound around an internal drum. When activated, It quickly locks and arrests the fall of the worker with minimal impact to the body or anchor point. SRLs can be installed at foot level, overhead, or body worn.
- Leading Edge SRL: sometimes recognized as Foot Level Tie Off Self-Retracting Lifelines are used in applications where there are unfinished edge hazards such as during the construction of decks, floors, forms, or roofs. These are designed with more robust cables to resist breaking when force is applied against a leading edge. Leading Edge SRLs are also offered in body worn options.
- Overhead SRL: used in more traditional overhead applications. They operate with continuous tension which gives the user a lower fall clearance distance. Offered in cable and web lifelines, there are options to best fit your application. Even Kevlar® webbing for Arc Flash protection.
- Personal SRL: are designed to be compact and substantially lighter weight compared to the traditional overhead SRLs. They get attached directly to the dorsal D-Ring of the user’s harness and allow for a shorter deceleration distance compared to energy absorbing lanyards. They are also available in a twin-leg configuration to provide 100% tie-off.
