Mel Fireovid got his start in the rigging industry in the early 1970s as a sales rep for the Crosby Group. In 1981, recognizing a need for a sling shop in the Louisville, Kentucky area, he founded Kentuckiana Wire Rope and Supply in Jeffersonville, Indiana. In those early years, Mel grew the business by making sales calls by day and fabricating slings by night. Within a few years, a solid TEAM was formed including Mel’s partner Ed Elliot, also a Crosby Alumni. As new team members came on board, the business really took off.

By 1989 Mel saw an opportunity to enter the Cincinnati, Ohio market and opened Tri-State Wire Rope Supply.  Using the same formula, building a culture of hard working teammates, success followed and in 2010 expanded with the opening of a location in Dayton, Ohio to serve customers further north.

In 2016 the company was restructured.  Fulcrum Lifting™ was organized with the legacy branch names of Kentuckiana Wire Rope and Supply and Tri-State Wire Rope Supply maintained as DBA's.

In 2019, Fulcrum Lifting™ acquired the assets of The Vernon Corporation originally located in Boonville, Indiana.  Now doing business as Vernon Lifting Products, this branch relocated in 2022 just down the road to Evansville, Indiana. 

Today, as Fulcrum Lifting™, business is going strong. John Fireovid is now President, carrying on the legacy of growing the business through hard work and strong customer relationships. The close-knit staff includes several longtime employees.
